The company has overtaken American businessman Elon Musk’s Tesla. According to recently released sales figures, BYD sold 5,26,409 electric cars in the global market in the fourth quarter (October-December) of 2023, more than Tesla’s 4,84,507 units. It also fell behind BYD in terms of EV production. BYD has also had success with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, with the company selling more than 400,000 units in Q4. Tesla sold the most EVs in 2023 Despite falling behind in the fourth quarter of 2023, Tesla remained the leader in terms of car sales throughout the year, which shows Tesla’s influence in the electric vehicle market. Tesla has sold more than 1.8 million electric vehicles throughout the year. Along with this, BYD is in the second position by selling 1.6 million cars.

BYD Gives Tesla Tough Competition Shenzhen, China-based company BYD is giving Tesla tough competition in the EV segment in China and Europe. One of the reasons for this is the support of BYD from the Chinese government, which gives it full support in the domestic market. However, even after this, the company has not sold its cars in the American market.
