Kalilekh, Galkot: Installation of Goddess Kalika Mai and Lord Shiva Statues

In the border region of Kalilekh, at the junction of Galkot Municipality Ward No. 6, 2, Tarakhola Rural Municipality Ward No. 1, and Kathekhola Rural Municipality, statues of Goddess Kalika Mai and Lord Shiva have been installed.

During the program, the Deputy Mayor of Galkot Municipality, Mr. Phamlal Niure, highlighted the historical and religious significance of Kalilekh. He emphasized the importance of preserving the identity of Kalilekh, promoting tourism, and integrating tourism development with production to enhance the area’s economic prospects.

He expressed the municipality’s commitment to implement programs aimed at the development of Kalilekh, and appreciated the efforts of individuals and organizations involved in the construction of the temple.

In memory of the late parents father Shalikram Basnet and mother Kunti Kumari Basnet, their son Debindra Basnet, along with his family, Gaurav Basnet, Daughter Batuli Basnet Khadka contributed Rs 1 million for the construction of the temple, which was completed on Bhadra 27, 2078.

Ram Prasad kandel, Ward President of Galkot Municipality Ward No. 6, Prem Prasad Pandey, Coordinator of Jamundanda Tol Development Organization of Galkot Municipality, Ward No. 6, gave a congratulatory speech.

Local residents shared that worshiping at Kalilekh fulfills their wishes, and the construction of the temple by the Basnet family signifies the development of religious importance in the region.

Ganesh Budhathoki, Secretary of the Kalilekh Tourism Development Committee, informed that Kalilekh is home to various medicinal herbs, flora, and fauna. He suggested that the area could be developed as a tourist destination, providing an opportunity for tourists to observe natural beauty and conduct botanical studies.

The installation of the statues inside the temple was performed by the idol worship group along with a bhajan mandali. The program was chaired by Tul Bahadur Basnet, a member of the temple construction family, and coordinated by Ganesh Budhathoki, Secretary of the Kalilekh Tourism Development Committee, and managed by journalist Sarita Khatri.
